CREATIVE PRACTICES II

The general objective of the course, which functions mainly as a workshop, is the creation of short films, complete or at the sample level, that help in understanding the audiovisual form and its practical creative side and the training of students to function as animators and trainers for the creation of audiovisual works in an educational environment, having a deeper understanding of the practical and theoretical dimension of the educational practice that utilizes audiovisual arts and digital technological media. It is divided into two major sections, the creation of documentary works and recording of reality and the creation of fiction films. The assessment is done through small individual or group practical tasks.

Upon completion of the course, students are expected to:

  • understand the specifics of documentary filmmaking and sound design
  • conduct basic research for a documentary script
  • participate in the filming of documentary films
  • be able to write a short documentary script and a short fiction script
  • understand basic principles of directing in fiction
  • have learned to utilize and apply the instructions found in scripts.
  • have understood the roles that each participant has in the film and how they collaborate.
  • utilize this knowledge and skills in the implementation of film education programs and the implementation of teaching scripts
  • are able to supervise and assist at all stages in the creation of audiovisual works within the framework of an educational institution, formal and informal education

Indicative workshop topics:

  • introduction to the methods of researching and structuring a script,
  • introduction to the specifics of documentary photography and sound editing
  • introduction to the basic elements of documentary directing
  • presentation of decoupage:
  • repertoire - finding filming locations.
  • directing actors
  • organizing the shoot: producing the film, budgeting, needs analysis and final choices.
  • examples of application and good practices in an educational environment
