Post Graduate Programme: "Cinema in Education: Theory and Creative Practices"

The course offers a systematic framework of pedagogical principles and methods that form the basis and build a framework for the teaching of cinema and audiovisual arts in Education. In particular,  it aims to introduce students to the principles and practices of pedagogy and teaching methodology that will be a tool for those who integrate cinema and audiovisual arts into the educational process.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• understand and apply the principles of learning and teaching in an educational environment
• know and apply teaching practices of active, student-centered and inquiry-based learning
• recognize educational structures and cultural goods as constructions and systems of representation of myths and perceptions
• be critically positioned towards systems of representation with the aim of social and individual emancipation
• apply teaching practices that promote the teaching of audiovisual arts and give the teacher an emancipatory and transformative role
• know the various benefits that arise from the encounter of the art of cinema and digital arts with education and society

• Basic concepts and learning and teaching theories
• Teaching methodology – constructivist approach
• Critical literacy – critical pedagogy
• Sociology of education – Bourdieu’s approach
• Cultural studies and education
• Art teaching
• Cinema and audiovisual arts in education: introductory theoretical approaches
